Bone & Marrow

What is Bone & Marrow?

The majority of bone tissue is composed of bone matrix – an organic and inorganic mixture. Most of the organic matter in bone matrix is collagen, while most of the inorganic matter is a type of calcium called microcrystalline hydroxyapatite (MCHA). The bone matrix also contains phosphorus, growth factors, glycosaminoglycans, and other trace elements.

Bone marrow is the soft, gelatinous substance that fills the cavities of bones. It is a nutrient dense and energy rich whole food, containing a high content of healthy essential fats, collagen and minerals.

The nutritional value of bone matrix and bone marrow, and the corresponding health benefits, are thus greatly underappreciated by the western world. This has been a common belief for many decades but fortunately these foods have been making a strong comeback.

Why Grass Fed Matters

Our bone & marrow begins with 100% grass fed cows raised in the beautiful Canterbury Plains of New Zealand. Our cows live entirely outdoors and feed on lush, green pasture year round. New Zealand’s climate, clean air and plentiful water in are perfect for raising cows that are naturally robust and healthy.

When choosing bone & marrow supplements, it is particularly important that sources are pure and clean. Toxins are stored in the fat cells (bone marrow) of animals. Therefore, the consumption of bone marrow should be limited to only naturally healthy, grass fed animals.

Our bone & marrow is 100% pure, with no added fillers or binders. It is freeze dried using a clinical, hygienic process which does not use excessive heat or chemicals. Cold processing maintains the bioactivity of bone & marrow’s beneficial nutrients.

No hormones, antibiotics, hyper-immunizations, or GMO’s are used to raise our cows.
